Act­ing Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice Ju­nior Ben­jamin will be meet­ing with rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Paria Jus­tice Com­mit­tee on Thurs­day morn­ing, to dis­cuss the on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to the Paria div­ing tragedy.

“It has been three years since the Paria Div­ing Tragedy and the mat­ter is un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS),” the Com­mit­tee said in a me­dia re­lease. “This meet­ing serves to re­quest an up­date in­to the in­ves­ti­ga­tions be­ing un­der­tak­en by the TTPS.”

Mem­bers of the Com­mit­tee will be joined by Dr David Lee, Op­po­si­tion Shad­ow on En­er­gy and Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Pointe-a-Pierre; and Mr Rudranath In­dars­ingh, Op­po­si­tion Shad­ow on Labour and Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Cou­va South.

The Com­mit­tee will be com­mem­o­rat­ing the third an­niver­sary of the Paria Div­ing Tragedy on Sat­ur­day 22 Feb­ru­ary 2025, in the form of a Memo­r­i­al and a Plat­form by the Paria Jus­tice Com­mit­tee.

The Paria Jus­tice Com­mit­tee con­sists of the fam­i­ly mem­bers of the men who died—Rishi Na­gas­sar, Fyzal Kur­ban, Yusuf Hen­ry, and Kaz­im Ali Ju­nior; and the tragedy’s lone sur­vivor Christo­pher Boodram and his fam­i­ly. It al­so in­cludes mem­bers of the labour fra­ter­ni­ty and mem­bers of the pub­lic seek­ing to en­sure jus­tice for those who lost their lives in the in­ci­dent.

The Com­mit­tee says it is work­ing to en­sure that no one else los­es their life is such a trag­ic man­ner.
