Star Sab­ga is in “re­cov­ery mode” fol­low­ing her re­lease from house ar­rest af­ter spend­ing about two months de­tained un­der a Pre­ven­tive De­ten­tion Or­der (PDO), ac­cord­ing to Op­po­si­tion Sen­a­tor Faris Al-Rawi, who is al­so her lawyer.

Al-Rawi was speak­ing out­side Par­lia­ment yes­ter­day when he was asked how Sab­ga had been cop­ing since her re­lease.

“It’s a very emo­tion­al ex­pe­ri­ence to have been locked away un­der a PDO for two months,” Al-Rawi said.

“She’s in re­cov­ery mode. It’s ob­vi­ous­ly not an easy sit­u­a­tion, par­tic­u­lar­ly when you look at what the ev­i­dence that has come in­to the pub­lic do­main demon­strates.”

Al-Rawi de­clined to dis­cuss the de­tails of Sab­ga’s case, say­ing the mat­ter is now be­fore the court.

“I don’t want to say too much about that. We’re in court in re­la­tion to that. Ev­i­dence will be put for­ward, and we’ll abide by the process­es in court,” he said.

Sab­ga had been placed un­der a PDO dur­ing the State of Emer­gency and was sub­se­quent­ly sub­ject­ed to house ar­rest fol­low­ing pro­ceed­ings be­fore the High Court.

Sab­ga’s case has at­tract­ed par­tic­u­lar at­ten­tion be­cause of the le­gal chal­lenges sur­round­ing her de­ten­tion and the ev­i­dence re­lied up­on by the au­thor­i­ties.

Al-Rawi stopped short of com­ment­ing on the ev­i­dence yes­ter­day, stress­ing that it would be pre­sent­ed through the court process.
