Two men who went to buy marijuana were involved in an altercation which led to them being shot to death at Harmony Hall in Gasparillo, last night, police said.
Police confirmed that Joshua Williams, 36, a labourer of Praim Street, Diamond Village, La Romaine died at the scene, together with the other victim who is believed to be 39-year-old man from Williams' neighbourhood.
Investigators are yet to confirm his name.
Police inquires revealed that around 7 pm, the men were liming at First Street, Harmony Hall with other people including a 17-year-old boy.
They then went to an area near Light Pole 6 to purchase marijuana from a man.
However, the men had an altercation with another man, following which loud explosions were heard.
Both men collapsed and subsequently died. Another man, said to be 20 years old, who was parked nearby in a black Hatchback Nissan Tiida, reportedly got out of the car and ran when he heard the gunshots.
When he returned, he saw the windows of the right side front and back doors of the vehicle shattered. In addition, the rear windshield of the vehicle was shattered and three large stones were found inside the car.
PCs Soogrim and Phagoo were on mobile patrol in Gasparillo when they responded to the call around 7:30 pm. The officers cordoned off the area.
Williams suffered gunshot wounds to face while the second victim (still to be identified) had wounds to his chest.
District Medical Officer Dr Rajnarinesingh examined the bodies and ordered their removal to the San Fernando General Hospital Mortuary pending post-mortems at the Forensic Science Centre.
Police say Crime Scene Investigators recovered three spent 9 mm calibre casings at the scene.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of investigations (Region Three), San Fernando CID and Gasparillo Police Station visited the scene.
