Of­fi­cers of the North East­ern Di­vi­sion­al Task Force seized am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the Barataria Po­lice Dis­trict on Mon­day.

Po­lice stat­ed that be­tween 11.30 a.m. and 3.20 p.m., of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a rov­ing strate­gic drug block op­er­a­tion tar­get­ing drug blocks in the San Juan and Barataria Po­lice Dis­tricts.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers searched per­sons and ar­eas along William Street, Aranguez. Po­lice re­port­ed that of­fi­cers found a trans­par­ent plas­tic con­tain­er with a blue cov­er hid­den in a hole in a drain along the street.

The con­tain­er held 21 brass cylin­dri­cal ob­jects re­sem­bling 5.56mm am­mu­ni­tion. The items were seized by of­fi­cers.

In a sep­a­rate ex­er­cise, po­lice de­tained 21 mi­grants in the West­ern Penin­su­la on Mon­day night.

Po­lice stat­ed that at about 11.30 p.m., of­fi­cers of the Coastal and Air Sup­port Unit and Care­nage Po­lice Sta­tion re­spond­ed to in­for­ma­tion from the Radar Cen­tre re­ceived at about 10.50 p.m. about a tar­get head­ing to­ward Care­nage.

Of­fi­cers went to the area of the Bam­boo Fish Mar­ket along West­ern Main Road, Care­nage, where they de­tained a group.

Po­lice said the group in­clud­ed 11 adult males, eight adult fe­males and two male chil­dren aged 16 and six.

Po­lice re­port­ed that the ex­er­cise was led by Snr Supt Guy-Al­leyne, ASP Cal­len­der and In­sp Ram­s­ingh.
