A 37-year-old amputee has appeared in court charged with murder.
Kevin Civilian, of Ramdass Street, Sangre Grande, appeared before Justice of the Peace Ann Marie John in the Sangre Grande Magistrates Court yesterday charged with the murder of Shamme Phillip.
Phillip, a mechanic, was shot dead at the compound of his employer— a garbage collector contractor—on Ramdass Street, Sangre Grande on August 30 , 2018.
Police reported that around 10.30 am a man went to the gate of the contractor asking for $100. The man was told to wait until all the employees were paid.
A man then whipped out a gun and shot Phillip in the head. Police officers responded and conducted investigations.
Civilian was charged by WPC Timothy of Sangre Grande Crime Investigation Department following instructions from the Director of Public Prosecution.
He was remanded to reappear in court on October 24.
