“It is an act of cowardice to shoot a man with five children in his back,” lamented the mother of Penal fisherman Nigel Goorachan who was murdered on Sunday.
Describing him as a loving person, Shanti Persad, 63, said Goorachan, the second of her seven children, did not deserve to die in that way.
“My son was one of the most loving and giving person anyone could know. Whosoever kill him they envied him and they are cowards to shoot a man with five kids,” she said.
Goorachan’s children ranged from 19 to three years old. Persad said her son was not involved in any illegal activities and had no altercation with anyone.
She last saw him around 12 pm on Saturday before he left their Latchoos Road home to lime with his friend.
According to a report, around 3 am on Sunday, police were contacted after residents heard loud explosions at Ali Mohammed Avenue, Batchiya Village.
On arrival, PC Nanan and other officers from the Penal CID found Goorachan lying motionless on the road with three gunshot wounds to the back. Police are yet to determine a motive for the killing.
Investigations are continuing.
