Police are currently investigating the murder of a woman in Tunapuna late on Tuesday night.
The woman was identified as Carissa Pierre, 22, of 5 Lovell Trace, Tunapuna.
According to police reports, at about 9.15 pm residents heard a volley of shots in the community. When they checked outside, Pierre was found dead on the roadway. She appeared to have been shot about six times in the head.
A motive is yet to be determined.
Pierre was the third woman killed in the past four days.
On Saturday, Rachel Mohammed, 30, and her female friend were shot at by a gunman as they stood near Mohammed’s Dookiesingh Street, St Augustine home around 11.20 pm. Mohammed subsequently died at hospital.
Hours before that, Netanya Mohamdally, 17, was found dead in a ravine at Exchange Lots, Couva, by a farmer. Both her hands and feet were tied together with rope and her head was also bashed in. An autopsy revealed the Chaguanas resident died of chop wounds to the neck.
Pierre’s killing pushed the murder toll for the year to 114.
