Ralph Ban­warie 

An Ari­ma man was killed in a shootout with po­lice near SWA­HA Hin­du Col­lege on Cu­napo South­ern Main Road, San­gre Grande, around 7.05 pm yes­ter­day.

He has been iden­ti­fied as Mustapha Gu­lab of Bue­na Vista Street, Ari­ma.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers on mo­bile pa­trol tried to stop a white Hilux that ap­peared sus­pi­cious when the dri­ver opened fire on them. Of­fi­cers shot back, hit­ting Gu­lab, and the ve­hi­cle came to a stop at Coalmine Bridge.

He was tak­en to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal where he was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Po­lice re­cov­ered an AR-15 ri­fle and 11 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors al­so col­lect­ed sev­er­al spent shells.
