An Arouca man was robbed of over $80,000 in cash whilst sitting in his car at the SuperPharm car park in Trincity on Friday night.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8 pm.
Reports indicate the 52-year-old victim of Manhill Gardens in Arouca had just allowed a 33-year-old man of Waterman Road in Belmont to get into his car when they were approached by two armed men.
The victim told police he had been facilitating the purchase of cryptocurrency for the Belmont man, and the two agreed to meet and conduct the financial exchange which amounted to $85,800.
It was alleged that as the man got into the victim’s car and handed over the bag with the cash, two gunmen approached and announced a robbery.
The suspects took the bag containing the cash as well as the cellphones of both victims before getting back into a waiting vehicle which sped off.
