Bail has been denied to a 35-year-old man charged in connection with a $6.3 million marijuana seizure in Gasparillo earlier this year.
Jovon Jackson appeared before High Court Master Sarah De Silva on Wednesday, charged with possession of 57.42 kilogrammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The drugs were allegedly found by police on February 21 at an apartment at Reform Residential Development.
He was not called upon to plead to the charge.
In a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the police estimated that the street value for the drugs was over TT $6.3 million.
Representing the prosecution, attorney Anthony Jacob objected to bail, citing the nature and seriousness of the offence.
He also raised concerns that Jackson may abscond if granted bail. Jackson was remanded into custody and is expected to reappear on June 23.
