Po­lice are search­ing for a man who broke in­to a poul­try de­pot in Ari­ma on Tues­day evening but fled the scene, leav­ing be­hind his wal­let and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion card.

Of­fi­cers said the shop’s own­er re­ceived a call from his land­lord at 6.55 pm, in­form­ing him that some­one had bro­ken in­to the Tumpuna Road busi­ness­place and dam­aged a point-of-sale print­er, eggs and a cut­ting ma­chine.

The land­lord re­port­ed­ly con­front­ed the ban­dit, who ran off and dropped his wal­let con­tain­ing his na­tion­al ID card.

When Ari­ma po­lice ar­rived, they found ev­i­dence that the man had tried un­suc­cess­ful­ly to cut a lock on the bur­glar-proof­ing.
