Linda's Bakery in Glencoe was robbed yesterday morning. Store officials confirmed that a robbery took place at the outlet but declined to give elaborate details.
The T&T Guardian was told they were still quantifying what was taken. However, they denied claims that a hostage was taken and machine guns were used in the robbery attempt, as suggested by social media posts which went viral yesterday.
The T&T Guardian was told the incident took place in a matter of minutes.
Police reports state three men wearing coveralls entered the bakery, which is located obliquely opposite Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley's Diego Martin West constituency office, before pulling out guns and announcing a hold up.Some $4000 was reportedly stolen from the cash register.
"If you were walking along the pavement you would not have known what happened," a witness told the aftermath of the incident told the T&T Guardian.
There were no reports of injuries.
The branch remained open for business after the robbery.
Carenage Police are conducting inquiries into the incident.
