A 51-year-old Beetham man is be­ing treat­ed for a gun­shot wound he sus­tained af­ter an ar­gu­ment with an­oth­er man in his neigh­bour­hood on Thurs­day night.

Po­lice said the man was out­side his home on 22nd Street at 8 pm when he got in­to an ar­gu­ment with an­oth­er man from the neigh­bour­hood.

Af­ter the ar­gu­ment, the man re­turned home, but was fol­lowed in­side by the sus­pect, who fought with him.

The man fled his home and ran to­wards the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route when he heard a gun­shot and felt a sting­ing sen­sa­tion on the right side of his neck, be­fore col­laps­ing on Main Street, Beetham.

An am­bu­lance was called in and took the wound­ed man to the hos­pi­tal.

Of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Area East CID and the In­ter Agency Task Force Dun­can Street Post vis­it­ed the scene.
