A partially decomposed body of a man was discovered on a beach near Castries Street, Scarborough, this afternoon.
According to police, around 2.15 pm, officers on patrol from the Scarborough Police Station saw what appeared to be a body lying among seaweed on the shoreline.
Checks were made and the body of a man was found. Police say the face was no longer visible and the man’s ethnicity could not be determined.
Officers from the Crime Scene Unit processed the area. The DMO visited the scene, viewed the body, and officially pronounced the man dead at 4.43 pm.
The body was later removed to the Scarborough General Hospital Mortuary. An autopsy is expected to determine the cause of death. DNA testing may be needed to confirm identity.
Police investigations are ongoing.
