Eliz­a­beth Gon­za­les 

A par­tial­ly de­com­posed body of a man was dis­cov­ered on a beach near Cas­tries Street, Scar­bor­ough, this af­ter­noon.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, around 2.15 pm, of­fi­cers on pa­trol from the Scar­bor­ough Po­lice Sta­tion saw what ap­peared to be a body ly­ing among sea­weed on the shore­line.

Checks were made and the body of a man was found. Po­lice say the face was no longer vis­i­ble and the man’s eth­nic­i­ty could not be de­ter­mined.

Of­fi­cers from the Crime Scene Unit processed the area. The DMO vis­it­ed the scene, viewed the body, and of­fi­cial­ly pro­nounced the man dead at 4.43 pm.

The body was lat­er re­moved to the Scar­bor­ough Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal Mor­tu­ary. An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to de­ter­mine the cause of death. DNA test­ing may be need­ed to con­firm iden­ti­ty.
