While the State of Emergency remains in effect, police are investigating the discovery of a burnt body in Couva on Tuesday morning.
Police said a farmer was showing another person and a real estate agent a plot of agricultural land at Exchange Estate No 1 Connector Road, Mc Bean, around 11.20 am when they found the body.
Couva police were called and officers were led to the scene.
Investigators said the man had both hands tied behind his back.
Crime scene investigators recovered three spent 9 mm shell casings at the scene.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III are continuing enquiries.
As of Wednesday morning, the murder toll stood at 67 compared with 75 for the same period in 2025.
