A Princes Town businessman has shot and killed a bandit who attempted to rob his supermarket around 3 am on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the Palmyra community at the family-owned business which is located downstairs the businessman’s home.
The businessman told police that three men used a ladder to get inside the house through a kitchen window early Wednesday morning. The supermarket owner said he was confronted by the men who appeared to be armed. Out of fear for his life, he said he opened fire on the group, hitting one of the men in the head. The bandit who was shot died at the scene but his accomplices fled the scene.
A team of officers led by senior superintendent Mohammed visited the scene on Wednesday morning to conduct inquiries.
Just yesterday, another bandit was shot and killed while attempting to rob a jewellery store in Couva.
