Wind dam­age was re­port­ed in parts of Bonne Aven­ture, Gas­par­il­lo, South Trinidad fol­low­ing an iso­lat­ed strong thun­der­storm.

Short­ly af­ter mid­day, a strong thun­der­storm be­gan pro­duc­ing tor­ren­tial rain­fall and strong wind gusts in Bonne Aven­ture, with videos cir­cu­lat­ing on so­cial me­dia of tree branch­es falling on the com­pound of the Gas­par­il­lo Sec­ondary School on­to a ve­hi­cle.

Ac­cord­ing to the Cou­va/Tabaquite/Tal­paro Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion (CT­TRC), Ryan Ram­per­sad, strong winds swept across the Bonne Aven­ture area in the vicin­i­ty of Gas­par­il­lo Sec­ondary School to Sur­prise Av­enue, down­ing trees and caus­ing roof dam­age, with one ve­hi­cle, be­long­ing to a teacher, crushed by a falling tree on the com­pound of the school.

He said that CT­TRC’s Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Unit was mo­bi­lized and are en route to the area to break down and re­move the branch­es, an ex­er­cise he ex­pect­ed to be com­plet­ed lat­er to­day or ear­ly to­mor­row.
