A Carenage man was granted $300,000 when he appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate charged with sexual penetration of a girl.
A police release said Trevin Mattadeen, 23, appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed on Tuesday.
He was granted bail with a surety in the sum of $300,000 to be approved by a Registrar of the Court, or a cash alternative in the sum of $30,000.
He was also ordered to not have any direct or indirect interaction with the victim.
The matter was adjourned to May 4.
According to police, the girl alleged that Mattadeen sexually penetrated her during the period January 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019.
He arrested on April 1, 2021, by officers of the Western Division’s Child Protection Unit (CPU) and charged the following day by WPC Cox.
Investigations were supervised by Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne and Insp. Aroon, both of the CPU.
