A Ca­roni man died in­stant­ly af­ter falling off a scaf­fold­ing in Ari­ma yes­ter­day.

Jef­fer­son Joseph, 47, of Sie­u­nar­ine Trace, Kel­ly Vil­lage, Ca­roni – died around 2 pm on May 25, at the con­struc­tion site in Tumpuna Gar­dens, Tumpuna Road, Ari­ma.

Mean­while, Clarence Di­az of Las Lo­mas Num­ber One was al­so in­jured dur­ing the in­ci­dent.

Re­ports in­di­cate the two men had been stand­ing atop two heights of scaf­fold­ing hold­ing a steel beam as oth­er per­sons were weld­ing the roof of the res­i­den­tial house.

It is al­leged the beam slipped, caus­ing both men to fall to the ground. Clarence Di­az re­ceived an in­jury to his right el­bow, while Joseph was crushed to death.

Di­az was lat­er tak­en to hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed and dis­charged.
