100-year-old Dennis Gregoire received a plaque on Friday from Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan at Gregoire's Jordan Street, Lendore Village, Chaguanas home. Gregoire, who celebrated his 100th birthday on September 16, 2018, said he was happy to be alive in 2019. Gregoire said he has a vision of seeing 2020.
Mayor Boodhan called on burgesses and nationals to play a greater role caring for the elderly. Gregoire's great-grandson Junior Jones described him as "a strict disciplinarian" who believed in the word of the Bible and brought up all his children in the ways prescribed by the holy text.
