Several street vendors are being given a chance the peddle their goods by the Chaguanas Borough Corporation for the Christmas season.
Mayor Faaiq Mohammed said vendors would be given rent-free spots along Mark Street near the Chaguanas Market, where they can sell until Christmas Eve.
He said so far 50 vendors have registered and persons interested in selling can register at the offices of the Chaguanas Municipal Police.
He said, "People are faced with rising food and fuel costs and we want to assist our burgesses as much as we can so they can earn extra income for the holiday season. The vendors at Mark Street are sole traders and householders looking to make an honest living for the season. By having the vendors at Mark Street the police would also be able to keep the traffic moving and keep a better eye out for criminal activities."
