Sev­er­al street ven­dors are be­ing giv­en a chance the ped­dle their goods by the Ch­agua­nas Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion for the Christ­mas sea­son.

May­or Faaiq Mo­hammed said ven­dors would be giv­en rent-free spots along Mark Street near the Ch­agua­nas Mar­ket, where they can sell un­til Christ­mas Eve.

He said so far 50 ven­dors have reg­is­tered and per­sons in­ter­est­ed in sell­ing can reg­is­ter at the of­fices of the Ch­agua­nas Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice.

He said, "Peo­ple are faced with ris­ing food and fu­el costs and we want to as­sist our burgess­es as much as we can so they can earn ex­tra in­come for the hol­i­day sea­son. The ven­dors at Mark Street are sole traders and house­hold­ers look­ing to make an hon­est liv­ing for the sea­son. By hav­ing the ven­dors at Mark Street the po­lice would al­so be able to keep the traf­fic mov­ing and keep a bet­ter eye out for crim­i­nal ac­tiv­i­ties."
