A total of 200 motorcycles are coming from China for use by the Police Service, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley announced yesterday during the contract signing ceremony for the new billion dollar Port- of- Spain Central Block yesterday.
The Prime Minister said this was among some of the requests his Government made for assistance and equipment from the Chinese Governement with regard to the possible improvements in this country.
He said, “I am advised that as we speak that there are 200 motorcycles on the way for the police service of Trinidad and Tobago to provide improved patrolling of the streets not just from the traffic hazard but from a crime-fighting stand point. We need to have more policemen on our streets night and day,” said the Prime Minister at the Diplomatic Centre.
He added: “And the Chinese Government has assisted us with that by providing us with 200 motorbikes which can be made available to the Police Service in the very near future to ensure our streets our bi-ways and highways and all our roadways are properly policed in an ongoing basis by moving patrols.”
