Canadian vlogger Christopher “Chris Must List” Hughes, who is due to re-appear in court next week, will return to T&T this week and says he is eager to have his day in court. He has also hinted that he will be creating more content while in the country.
In a social media post earlier this week, Hughes wrote, “I’ll be returning to court in Trinidad and Tobago this upcoming week, therefore you can expect a new series of daily videos from both Trinidad and Tobago.
“For those that say I shouldn’t return to T&T, you must not understand the law. If I missed court, and was found guilty of sedition, I would be facing up to two years in jail.”
Hughes also said he is ready for his day in court.
“Although Canada doesn’t recognise the charge, other countries I want to visit in the future might and it would ruin my chances of visiting every country in the world. Therefore, I will fight this %#* charge, and I will be ready for court.”
Hughes’ next court appearance is on August 23 for case management. The 45-year-old is charged with making a seditious publication and has pleaded not guilty to the offence.
If found guilty, Hughes, who is out on $100,000 bail, faces a $3,000 fine or two years imprisonment.
He is being represented by Pamela Elder, SC.
