Three fishermen were rescued by the Coast Guard after their vessel began to sink while they were in the Gulf of Paria on Boxing Day.
A statement from the TTCG detailed the incident.
It said around 10 am, they received a report that a fishing vessel named ‘Reel Ten’ was taking in water after it departed from Couva and had proceeded north to Nelson Island.
The initial report was made by the vessel’s captain, Nash Ramsingh, who was at the time in the company of two other fishermen, Kameel Mohamed and Sandy Heerah.
The Coast Guard said a TTCG vessel departed Staubles Bay to render assistance and found the vessel minutes later north of Nelson Island.
The TTCG said at the time the vessel was already partially submerged.
The fishermen were rescued, transported back to land where they were medically examined and allowed to leave.
