One man was killed, and a pistol and quantity of ammunition recovered, following a police-involved shooting incident in the Western Division, yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Lyndon Mohammed.
Official police reports state that officers of the Western Division Task Force were conducting an exercise around 1:20 pm, on Thursday 30th April 2020.
They received certain information, which led them to the Cocorite residence of a man currently wanted by police.
Reports are the officers surrounded the house and announced their presence to the suspect. The man reportedly pointed a firearm through a window in the house and fired two shots at the police officers.
The officers reportedly returned fire in accordance with the Use of Force policy, and quickly entered the house. There, they observed the suspect suffering from gunshot wounds about the body.
He was taken to the St. James Medical Complex for treatment where he died.
A Glock 19 pistol loaded with a quantity of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Investigations are ongoing.
