Four suspects have been arrested in Tobago for various offences, including possession of drugs and house breaking and larceny.
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), yesterday’s Operation Steadfast led to the arrest of a 42-year-old sanitation worker from Scarborough for possession of 496 grams of cocaine valued at an estimated $40,000. The man is expected to be charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Also arrested was a 27-year-old Guyanese national of Scarborough in connection with a case of robbery with aggravation.
A 31-year-old man from Mount St. George, and a 29-year-old technician from Bethel Main Road were both detained for house breaking and larceny.
During the search in Bethel, police also seized an air rifle, suspected to be stolen. Investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, two men from Congo Hill in Woodlands, Moriah were arrested yesterday afternoon during a separate house search in the Tobago Division.
During that operation, in addition to dried cannabis, police officers seized 36 cannabis trees—well in excess of the legally prescribed limit. The drugs have an estimated street value of TT$453,600.
