Police arrested a 49-year-old man from Point Fortin on Tuesday after uncovering an alleged cannabis cultivation operation at his home.
During an anti-crime exercise conducted under the Emergency Powers Regulations for Firearms and Ammunition, officers searched the man’s residence along Jah Roots Avenue, Warden Road.
In a ground-floor room, police allegedly discovered what they described as a grow lab, consisting of 20 cannabis plants outfitted with LED grow lights, fans and bottles of fertiliser.
In the yard, officers also observed a concrete platform supported by iron posts and covered with plastic, which allegedly housed a large quantity of marijuana plants.
Fertiliser bottles, shovels, spray cans and additional LED grow lights were also found at the location.
The operation, conducted between 6 pm and 10 pm, was spearheaded by Senior Superintendent Thompson and included PC Mohansingh and other officers from the Point Fortin CID and the South Western Division Task Force.
