The police service conducted 84 anti-crime operations between Sunday and yesterday as the State of Emergency continued.
In a statement yesterday, the T&T Police Service (TTPS) said, “In the last 24 hours, a total of 84 operations were conducted nationwide, resulting in 23 arrests, 161 traffic offences detected, and the seizure of two firearms, a rifle and a pistol and several quantities of ammunition.”
The TTPS said the operations spanned 12 divisions and targeted high-priority offenders, criminal activity hotspots, and major roadways.
It said the Southern Division recorded the highest number of arrests, with 151 traffic operations conducted. The IATF, the TTPS said, also played a significant role, contributing to the firearm seizures.
Up to yesterday, 160 arrests had been made since the start of the SoE.
