A police exercise in Arima early Friday resulted in the arrests of several persons for various driving offences including illegally parking on a taxi stand.
Operation PRO-Restoration was conducted between 3 am and 6 am at PRO Sports Bar, Malabar. Some people were searched, as well as vehicles and adjacent premises but nothing illegal was found.
Police issued four e-tickets to motorists for driving without insurance, driving on a footpath, driving without a seatbelt and playing a loud musical instrument.
Officers later carried out a roadblock in Arima and issued six tickets, including five for driving without a seatbelt and one for parking at a taxi stand.
A Curepe man was charged for driving under the influence, while a Valencia man was held after camouflage clothing was found in his vehicle; and an Arouca man was charged with failing to produce a driver’s permit and insurance, disorderly behaviour, using obscene language, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Pamponette, Supt Edwards, ASP Ettienne and coordinated by Insp Pitt. It was supervised by Duty FDO Ag. Asp. Mc Kenzie along with Sgt. Leopold, Sgt. Ammon, Ag. Sgt. Metitver and Ag. Sgt Haynes.
