Police in the Port-of-Spain Division are searching for a suspect who reportedly shot at officers on Saturday night.
Officers were on foot patrol near Rose Hill, Laventille around 7.30 pm, when they spotted a man of African descent walking along a track in the area.
Observing the suspect holding a rifle slung around his neck, officers called out and identified themselves.
However, instead of complying with the order, the suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the officers – prompting them to return fire.
The suspect was not hit, however, and managed to elude capture, but not before he dropped a magazine containing 24 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition.
