Po­lice are try­ing to de­ter­mine whether the charred re­mains of a body found in a burnt-out ve­hi­cle in San­gre Grande, could be those of 30-year-old Shashi Samad, of Ram­per­sad Trace, Ve­ga de Oropouche, who was last seen on Fri­day 10 June 2022.

Shashi Samad was re­port­ed miss­ing to the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion on Sat­ur­day 11th June 2022, and a Miss­ing Per­sons Alert had been ac­ti­vat­ed for him, with the Po­lice Ser­vice ask­ing for any in­for­ma­tion as to his where­abouts to be re­port­ed to the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion.

In ad­di­tion, the Hunters Search and Res­cue Team had em­barked on a mis­sion to as­sist the fam­i­ly in find­ing the miss­ing man.

“Hunters Search and Res­cue Team led by Cap­tain Val­lence Ramb­harat was at the home of miss­ing per­son Shashi Samad, of Ram­per­sad Trace, Ve­ga De Oropouche, San­gre Grande on Sun­day evening, to as­sist the fam­i­ly in lo­cat­ing him,” the group stat­ed in a re­lease.

“While at the home, word came that a burnt ve­hi­cle with a burnt body in­side was found at La Sie­va Road, Fos­ter Road, San­gre Grande. This is ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5 kilo­me­tres from the fam­i­ly home,” the group said.

It added: “Our team vis­it­ed and found that the body was burnt be­yond recog­ni­tion.  Lat­er the chas­sis num­ber was matched to Shashi Samad’s moss-green Almera car.  The ve­hi­cle was re­moved by the TTPS.”
