A couple from Maloney remain in police custody after being held with 34.92 kilos of marijuana on Monday night.
According to reports, around 7.30 pm a group of police officers from the Northern Division led by Sgt Rene Katwaroo executed a search warrant at an apartment at Building 13 Maloney Gardens.
While they were expecting to find an illegal gun and ammunition during the search, police found two crocus bags containing 60 packets of marijuana. Investigators estimate that the drugs have a street value of $488,000.
The husband and wife, who are both in their 40s, were arrested and were being interrogated by investigators up to last evening.
They are expected to be charged with marijuana trafficking and taken to court later this week. Cpl Damian Ali is continuing investigations.
