Six people were arrested after police locked down Phase One in La Horquetta and seized three firearms and a quantity of ammunition and marijuana, over the weekend. The exercise, which started on Saturday and ended late yesterday, was conducted by units of the Northern Division CID and the Area-West Task Force, led by Sgt Sinanan and Cpl Bernard. Police said shortly after they moved into the area on Saturday, two men were searched and three home-made shotguns were found in their possession.
Two other suspects were held for allegedly being in possession of marijuana and ammunition. Yesterday, police executed a search warrant at a house and found a fully-loaded .38 Baretta pistol and arrested one person. Up to late yesterday, the suspects remained in custody. Head of the Northern Division Snr Supt Joseph Edwards also led officers on a series of anti-crime exercises throughout the area. (AS)
