Six peo­ple were ar­rest­ed af­ter po­lice locked down Phase One in La Hor­quet­ta and seized three firearms and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion and mar­i­jua­na, over the week­end. The ex­er­cise, which start­ed on Sat­ur­day and end­ed late yes­ter­day, was con­duct­ed by units of the North­ern Di­vi­sion CID and the Area-West Task Force, led by Sgt Sinanan and Cpl Bernard. Po­lice said short­ly af­ter they moved in­to the area on Sat­ur­day, two men were searched and three home-made shot­guns were found in their pos­ses­sion.

Two oth­er sus­pects were held for al­leged­ly be­ing in pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na and am­mu­ni­tion. Yes­ter­day, po­lice ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at a house and found a ful­ly-loaded .38 Baret­ta pis­tol and ar­rest­ed one per­son. Up to late yes­ter­day, the sus­pects re­mained in cus­tody. Head of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Snr Supt Joseph Ed­wards al­so led of­fi­cers on a se­ries of an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es through­out the area. (AS)
