A 36-year old Maraval man who was accused of kidnapping Maraval business woman Philippa Talma in May 2008, was gunned down outside his home last Friday night. Ian Morgan was shot multiple times about the body by a man who called him on his cell phone asking him to come outside, police said. Morgan, of 53 Moraldo Street, slumped to the ground and died at the scene of the incident, which occurred around 11.45 pm. His sister, Leslie Ann, who was in a bedroom at the time, was shot twice in the shoulders. She remained warded in stable condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital up to late yesterday. Another sibling, Alfred, 26, was shot about the body hours earlier on the roadway.
He too, police say, remains hospitalised. Police said around 8 pm, Alfred was near to his home when he was shot. Detectives from the Western Division visited the scene and attempted to interview eyewitnesses who refused to co-operate with lawmen. While officers were at the hospital interviewing the victim, they received a report about a second shooting in the same area. When police got to the scene, Morgan's bullet-riddled body was found on the ground. A motive is yet to be established for the incident.
