?A man who went on a larceny spree, stealing various items, including cash, snacks, a play station and video games, was sent to jail for 12 months yesterday. Frank Pooransingh, 43, nicknamed "Guerilla," of Friendship Village, San Fernando, told magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes that he stole to support his drug addiction. Pooransingh, who was charged by acting Cpl Inchan Teeluck, had three previous convictions for larceny and wounding. He pleaded guilty to three charges of larceny.
Ramoo-Haynes, sitting in the San Fernando First Court, heard that on February 23, Pooransingh broke into a shop on Cipero Road and stole money. Pooransingh also admitted that on January 7, he broke into a store owned by Sastri Kanhai and stole snacks, along with $17,000. The magistrate also heard that on March 8, he broke into a warehouse owned by Michael Mohammed and stole a play station, video games and other equipment. (SW)
