Marabella fisherman Winston Richards was fined $2,000 yesterday after pleading guilty to possession of cocaine.
The 29-year-old man appeared before San Fernando Second Court magistrate Alexander Prince charged with the offence which was committed on Monday. When the matter was called yesterday police prosecutor Sgt Wendell Fernando recommended summary trial to which Richards pleaded guilty.
According to the facts, Richards was arrested along New Haven Road, Marabella, and 1.5 grammes of cocaine was found in his possession. Prince ordered that Richards pay the $2,000 fine in 21 days or serve four months' hard labour.
Another Marabella man, Wendell Scott, also was fined $2,000 after he pleaded guilty to possession of 2.4 grammes of cocaine. The 43-year-old man was arrested on Monday after the cocaine was found on him while he also was on New Haven Street, Marabella. He pleaded guilty. Prince ordered he pay $2,000 or serve four months hard labour. He was given 28 days to pay.
