Mara­bel­la fish­er­man Win­ston Richards was fined $2,000 yes­ter­day af­ter plead­ing guilty to pos­ses­sion of co­caine.

The 29-year-old man ap­peared be­fore San Fer­nan­do Sec­ond Court mag­is­trate Alexan­der Prince charged with the of­fence which was com­mit­ted on Mon­day. When the mat­ter was called yes­ter­day po­lice pros­e­cu­tor Sgt Wen­dell Fer­nan­do rec­om­mend­ed sum­ma­ry tri­al to which Richards plead­ed guilty.

Ac­cord­ing to the facts, Richards was ar­rest­ed along New Haven Road, Mara­bel­la, and 1.5 grammes of co­caine was found in his pos­ses­sion. Prince or­dered that Richards pay the $2,000 fine in 21 days or serve four months' hard labour.

An­oth­er Mara­bel­la man, Wen­dell Scott, al­so was fined $2,000 af­ter he plead­ed guilty to pos­ses­sion of 2.4 grammes of co­caine. The 43-year-old man was ar­rest­ed on Mon­day af­ter the co­caine was found on him while he al­so was on New Haven Street, Mara­bel­la. He plead­ed guilty. Prince or­dered he pay $2,000 or serve four months hard labour. He was giv­en 28 days to pay.
