Acting Police Commissioner James Philbert has said the T&T Police Service was on a drive to exceed its customer relations services as it related to the conduct of their duties. Philbert was speaking yesterday during the inauguration ceremony of the newly-elected members of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association.
The function was held at Police Administration building in Port-of Spain. Sgt Anand Ramesar of Central Division and his slate of candidates were successful in defeating Cpl Emrol Bruce and his team to gain leadership of the association.
Saying that challenges would periodically arise, Philbert said the demands of the workforce would also bring a number of issues to light which must be handled prudently."But during those challenges, we must remember we are all police officers who have taken an oath to serve and protect," Philbert urged. He also gave the assurance that the administration of the Police Service was committed to working with the association, saying it was "critical" for all parties involved to co-operate for the greater good of the organisation. Shortly after being congratulated, Ramesar identified several concerns affecting officers including proper overtime compensation and housing.
