A solider was sentenced to 120 days in a military jail for going on sick leave without the necessary permission from his immediate superiors.
A release from the Defence Force yesterday said Private Ali, who has four years military service, pleaded guilty to 13 charges contrary to military law. Civil Military Affairs officer of Defence Force Captain Al Alexander said yesterday: "He (Private Ali) left camp without marking out.
He went on sick leave without carrying out the necesssary action. Although notified about this indiscretion, he still proceeded on leave without the necessary approval." Ali was represented by attorney Larry Williams while Ian Roach presided as judge advocate. Major K Weekes acted as president of the court and Major Sheldon Ramanan prosecuted.
