South­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice have seized some 602 rounds of high-pow­ered am­mu­ni­tion, in­clud­ing AK47 and M16 bul­lets, dur­ing an ex­er­cise on Mon­day.

Thir­teen pack­ets of com­pressed mar­i­jua­na, were al­so re­cov­ered by po­lice. Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, a Guyanese man, who gave his ad­dress as El So­cor­ro, was among three men held.

The oth­er two were from Point Fortin and Siparia. The sus­pects range in age from 26 to 46. Po­lice are search­ing for a fourth sus­pect. Po­lice said around 10.30 am, they ob­served a dri­ver mak­ing an il­le­gal turn in­to a no en­try street at St Joseph Vil­lage, San Fer­nan­do.

As they in­ter­cept­ed the ve­hi­cle, one of the four oc­cu­pants jumped out and es­caped. The ve­hi­cle was searched and the three were ar­rest­ed. Act­ing Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er James Philbert on Mon­day com­mend­ed the of­fi­cers for their vig­i­lance.
