Southern Division police have seized some 602 rounds of high-powered ammunition, including AK47 and M16 bullets, during an exercise on Monday.
Thirteen packets of compressed marijuana, were also recovered by police. During the exercise, a Guyanese man, who gave his address as El Socorro, was among three men held.
The other two were from Point Fortin and Siparia. The suspects range in age from 26 to 46. Police are searching for a fourth suspect. Police said around 10.30 am, they observed a driver making an illegal turn into a no entry street at St Joseph Village, San Fernando.
As they intercepted the vehicle, one of the four occupants jumped out and escaped. The vehicle was searched and the three were arrested. Acting Police Commissioner James Philbert on Monday commended the officers for their vigilance.
