Chaguanas municipal police are continuing their crackdown on drug-pushing in the busy central borough. Around 6.20 pm on Wednesday, police arrested three men, who were acting suspiciously, in the area of the Couva maxi-taxi hub.
A search revealed that the men were in possession of 21 grammes of marijuana. At nearby Eleanor Street, police arrested a man who was in possession of cocaine and a device for smoking the narcotic.
The arrested men were taken to the Chaguanas Municipal Police Station where charges for possession were laid.
The exercise was conducted by Inspector Lewis and police constables Charles, Rambahal, Villafana, Langley and McAllister. Last Friday the municipal police arrested a 21-year-old woman who had a package of cocaine hidden in her rectum. She was charged for trafficking, and subsequently pleaded guilty when she appeared in court on Monday.
