Homicide detectives are yet to determine the motive for the killing of a Diego Martin man late Wednesday. Chad Herbert, 21, of Salandy Street, was found dead with gunshot wounds to the head in the Laventille area.
According to police reports, at about 11.30 pm Wednesday, the lawmen were summoned to Hosein Street, off Pashley Street in Laventille, after gunshots were heard in the area. Inter-Agency Task Force officers responded within minutes to find Herbert slumped at the steering wheel of his Mazda 323. Investigators from the Besson Street Police Station also arrived on the scene and informed Homicide officers that they did not know the victim from their criminal database.
Herbert's relatives were contacted late yesterday after police had confirmed his identity. An autopsy is expected to be done on the body today, at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park, St James. Residents of Hosein Street were assisting investigators who returned to the scene yesterday. The murder toll for the year now stands at 343.
