A Ma­yaro man is cur­rent­ly ward­ed in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal af­ter he was at­tacked and al­most killed dur­ing the wee hours of yes­ter­day morn­ing. Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, Leon Car­aval­lo, 44, of New Lands Guayagua­yare, was at his home around 1 am when he was at­tacked and dealt sev­er­al stabs about the body.

Car­aval­lo's throat was al­so slit. His neigh­bours, who heard his cries for help, re­port­ed the in­ci­dent to the po­lice. The bleed­ing man was tak­en to the Ma­yaro Dis­trict and then trans­ferred to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Four peo­ple in­clud­ing two men and two women were sub­se­quent­ly ar­rest­ed and are ex­pect­ed to be charged with at­tempt­ed mur­der. Cpl Ramesh­lal Gopaul is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
