Resh­ma Ra­goonath

A 26-year-old Princes Town man is due to reap­pear in a San Fer­nan­do Mag­is­trate's court to­day to face charges of be­ing found with a quan­ti­ty of cop­per ca­ble on Petrotrin's Pointe-a-Pierre com­pound. Robin Revero ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Roger Ram­goolam in San Fer­nan­do Sixth Court last week charged with un­law­ful pos­ses­sion of the cop­per ca­ble. Revero was placed on $20,000 own bail. When the mat­ter was called on Fri­day, Ram­goolam said he would hear the case to­day.

At­tor­ney Mewahlal Cha­toor, who rep­re­sent­ed Revero, al­so said he would be ready to­day. Po­lice Pros­e­cu­tor Sgt Rus­sel Ra­moutar said he would have his pros­e­cu­tion wit­ness­es to tes­ti­fy to­day as well. Revero was ar­rest­ed by Es­tate Con­sta­ble Rus­sel Cool­man on Thurs­day. He was brought be­fore the court to give a "sat­is­fac­to­ry" ac­count of how he came in­to pos­ses­sion of the ca­ble since Cool­man was of the opin­ion the ca­ble was stolen or un­law­ful­ly ob­tained.

Ram­goolam left the court­room and viewed the ca­ble from the cour­t­house bal­cony. The ca­ble was in a van parked on Court Street in front the cour­t­house. Revero was leav­ing Petrotrin com­pound in a pick-up when Cool­man al­leged­ly saw some ca­ble pro­trud­ing from the tray of the ve­hi­cle. He stopped the man and searched the ve­hi­cle. An undis­closed quan­ti­ty of ca­ble was found in the van. (RR)
