A 26-year-old Princes Town man is due to reappear in a San Fernando Magistrate's court today to face charges of being found with a quantity of copper cable on Petrotrin's Pointe-a-Pierre compound. Robin Revero appeared before Magistrate Roger Ramgoolam in San Fernando Sixth Court last week charged with unlawful possession of the copper cable. Revero was placed on $20,000 own bail. When the matter was called on Friday, Ramgoolam said he would hear the case today.
Attorney Mewahlal Chatoor, who represented Revero, also said he would be ready today. Police Prosecutor Sgt Russel Ramoutar said he would have his prosecution witnesses to testify today as well. Revero was arrested by Estate Constable Russel Coolman on Thursday. He was brought before the court to give a "satisfactory" account of how he came into possession of the cable since Coolman was of the opinion the cable was stolen or unlawfully obtained.
Ramgoolam left the courtroom and viewed the cable from the courthouse balcony. The cable was in a van parked on Court Street in front the courthouse. Revero was leaving Petrotrin compound in a pick-up when Coolman allegedly saw some cable protruding from the tray of the vehicle. He stopped the man and searched the vehicle. An undisclosed quantity of cable was found in the van. (RR)
