There will be a 2-week delay in the start of the CSEC and CAPE examinations, written examinations will now commence on June 28th.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Education following a meeting with regional education stakeholders. The following is a press release from the Ministry of Education:
Following a meeting with regional education stakeholders and representatives, the Caribbean Examinations Council has arrived at decisions with respect to the 2021 sitting of the Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE). The terms that have been agreed upon and will be implemented include the following:
All papers will be administered at CSEC and CAPE in their original formats. Papers 1, Paper 2 and the School-based Assessment (Paper3/2 for private candidates)
Delay of the start of examinations by two (2) weeks. Written Examinations will commence on Monday 28th June 2021.
Results of these examinations will be made available in the last week of September 2021- first week of October 2021.
The deadline to defer the sitting of examinations to 2022 has been extended to May 31st, 2021.
The deadline for the submission of all School Based Assessments for CSEC and CAPE has been extended to 30th June 2021.
A review of the broad topics shared by CXC for Paper 2 examinations. The results of this review will be shared by Friday 28th May 2021.
Though CXC has already issued concessions to candidates, during the marking/grading process consideration will be given to the psycho-social impact students may have experienced. Further concessions may be considered on a country-by-country basis.
CXC is expected to issue a press release giving further details of the decisions taken regarding the examinations of 2021. This will be made available once received by the Ministry of Education.
