A Cuban man is in police custody after he allegedly stabbed his wife, also a Cuban national, in her face on Saturday morning.
The woman is currently warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital but her condition is not known.
According to police, the man went to Al's Diner in Crystal Stream, Diego Martin, where his estranged wife works, on Saturday morning.
The couple were seen arguing when the man allegedly pulled out a knife and began to stab the woman in her face. He then tried to run off but was held by eyewitnesses, who hog-tied him and held him down until police arrived.

Officers of the Western Division Task Force arrested the man and took him to the Four Roads Police Station where he is being interrogated. Corporal Mohammed of the Four Roads Police Station is continuing investigations.
Police said the Immigration Department will be contacted to determine whether the couple are in the country illegally.
