A 26-year-old Curepe woman was killed at Maturita, Arima, on Wednesday night, as she was liming with a male friend.
Rianna Victoria Mohammed, of Mc Inroy Street, Curepe, was said to be in the company of a 37-year-old Coast Guard officer at Hoyte Avenue, Pinto Road, Arima around 10 pm, on August 17, when gunmen opened fire on the couple.
While Mohammed died on the spot, the able-bodied seaman of Chattam Village, was only grazed in the neck.
He was later taken to hospital for treatment and discharged.
While police are yet to establish a motive for the killing, the dead woman’s relatives have admitted that her lifestyle and choice of companion could have contributed to the killing.
Mohammed was a former employee of Pennywise Cosmetics.
A social media post by a close female relative shortly after the killing read:
“RIP my first-born, my princess. You left me without say goodbye. Your family will miss you forever and love you forever.”
Another person wrote, “Too much blood shed in this little country now… SIP Victoria.”
