Police are investigating two separate murders that occurred hours apart on Monday night.
In the first incident, two men went to the Maloney Police Station around 9.15 pm and reported to officers that someone had been killed on Sergeant Road, Red Hill, D’Abadie.
Officers on patrol went to the scene and guided by neighbours, found 33-year-old Rennie James dead.
James, who was lying on his couch, was shot in the head.
Hours later, around 11 pm, residents of Gonzales, Belmont, called police, saying they heard gunshots near Lastique Street.
When officers arrived, they found 23-year-old Jaheim Thomas bleeding from gunshot wounds and clinging to life.
He was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11.30 pm.
Investigators recovered 31 spent 5.56 shells, three spent 9mm shells, and four live rounds of 9mm ammunition at the scene. Police said Thomas was a known firearm offender.
