Progressive Democratic Patriots political leader Watson Duke speaks to the media during a news conference on Friday 24 January 2025.

Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) leader Watson Duke says he will not stop fighting for Tobago, despite his party’s failure to secure a seat in last Monday’s general election.

“We will not stop until Tobago wins. We will not stop until all ah we win Tobago,” Duke vowed in a voice message posted to social media on Sunday night.

Duke, whose PDP candidates lost in both Tobago East and Tobago West, said the party will continue pushing to represent Tobago—whether in the next general election or at the Tobago House of Assembly.

“Now that elections are over and the two individuals from the East and the West have been selected by Tobago, we in the Progressive Democratic Patriots must continue to look for our day, look for our opening,” he said.

Duke thanked supporters who turned out to vote and those who helped him campaign across the island.

“I say thank you to those persons in Tobago East and Tobago West who went to the polls and voted,” he said. “I want to say a particular thank you to Curtis Douglas, who stood by my side as we campaigned throughout the East and Tobago West, making known our plans for a Tobago we all have to win.”

He praised his campaign team for going into “the highways and the byways of Tobago, the nooks and crannies, spreading the message of the people… of a better Tobago, of a Tobago we all must win.

Duke also said he was grateful for a peaceful election.

“We are extremely thankful again for the environment where Tobagonians can go out and exercise their franchise freely, without being harassed, without being provoked, without being cursed. We must never take these things for granted.”
