A 70-year-old pen­sion­er suf­fered burns af­ter a gas tank caught on fire at her San Fer­nan­do home this morn­ing.

Ini­tial re­ports stat­ed that In­grid San­di­ford at­tempt­ed to light her stove

around 1.20 am but the gas tank caught fire.

She lift­ed the tank and placed it out of her apart­ment at Em­ba­cadere, re­sult­ing in her re­ceiv­ing burns about her body.

Of­fi­cers of Mon Re­pos Fire Sta­tion

re­spond­ed and ex­tin­guished the fire which had spread to a door and the south­ern area of the apart­ment.

San­di­ford is ward­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion at the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.
