A 28-year-old prison escapee has been recaptured by police following a manhunt that ended along Guaico Tamana Road on Wednesday.
Abraham Briggs, who escaped custody on Tuesday evening, was caught by officers of the Sangre Grande Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) and is currently being treated at the Sangre Grande Hospital for gunshot wounds.
Briggs had fled around 5 pm while working at the Youth Training and Rehabilitation Centre in Arouca. In a release issued yesterday, the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service said an alarm was raised immediately after his escape, prompting a joint search by prison and police officers in surrounding areas.
Briggs is serving a six-year sentence for robbery with aggravation and was due for release in March 2029. He was classified as a “Star Convict” and housed at the Golden Grove Prison.
His last known address is 67 Brooklyn Bridge Road, Settlement, Sangre Grande.
